Countdown to launch: processing Cultural Protocols from Classic to Legacy
Automatic migration from forum to site, new format with global library and a simpler way of updating nation cultures via docket requests on nation portals.
Here’s how we’re doing it:
Finalising the code based on a sample group
Verifying the entire dataset for all nations
Porting to the API and website for the launch
Archiving content on the forums
Fields for nation cultures
As with nation portals, nation cultures will have fields and limits, as follows:
General summary (max 800 characters)
Ethnicities summary (max 800 characters)
List of ethnicities (max 15)
Name, i.e. Dundorfian (dropdown from library)
Percentage of population, i.e. 75.6 - has 100% sum validation
Fixed "Other” option, max 5%
Religions summary (max 800 characters)
List of religions (max 15)
Name, i.e. Hosianism (dropdown from library)
Percentage of population, i.e. 45 - has 100% sum validation
Fixed “Atheist” option
Fixed “Agnostic” option
Fixed “Other” option, max 5%
Languages summary (max 800 characters)
List of languages (max 15)
Name, i.e. Luthorian (dropdown from library)
Percentage of population, i.e. 89 - does not have 100% sum validation
Fixed “Other” option, max 5%
Guidelines (max 240 characters)
List of tools (max 5)
Name (text)
Link
You will also notice that fictional terms will automatically link to the game’s wiki, making it easier to access and maintain canon directly from the website.
Game rules for cultural protocols will pretty much remain the same for the launch. The only exceptions are the limits on the fields. Any issues, we’ll deal on the spot.
All changes to cultural protocols will create docket requests for approval.
Changes through nation portals from primaries and union primaries.
Library of ethnicities, religions and languages
The initial porting of the content from the forum to the API and website will auto-populate the library. After that, it’s the usual request to add/edit/remove logic we’re already familiar with through the docket.
All items have the following format:
Name (text)
Real-life equivalent name (text)
Parent (dropdown)
You can find a clear example of this with Aldegar’s cultural protocol processing, where Daenism (Buddhism) - 10% is replaced by Mazdâyanâ / Mahayana / 8% / Daenism (Buddhism) and Upayanâ / Theravada / 2% / Daenism (Buddhism) and Hosianism (Christianity) - 8% by Aldegarian Apostolic Church / Nestorian Church (Church of the East) / 8% / Hosianism (Christianity).
Just to make sense of this visually, here.
Yes, there will be charts and pies. You will automatically be able to see how many people speak Luthorian and where.
Sample group
Cultural protocols processed as part of the first sample group:
Cultural digests
Cultural digests are AI-generated 240-character snippets intended to help players decide which nations to join or not. These digests will automatically be updated every time a nation’s culture or an item from the library are changed.
You can find the digests from our sample group of nations, here.
